Brunello Cucinelli
Brunello Cucinelli started in 1978 with a small workshop near Perugia making brightly coloured cashmere sweaters. In 1985 he bought the castle in Solomeo, a medieval village in Umbria, and moved the business there after two years of restoration. He began full collections in 2000, opened the first stores in 2003, and took the company public in 2012. The house is known for knits and tailored separates in muted tones. Look at the gauge and weight of the knit, and the quality of the cloth in the jackets.
